Folks, I had so much fun with my pop bottle garden! It was such a joy to check on it every day!
I created a page that shows step-by step how to build your own pop bottle garden.
Click on the link or on the photo to the right to see that page.
Why was it fun?
Almost NO WEEDING!
Below are some photos of the results!
This photo was taken two months after the tomato plants were transplanted into the pop bottles.
The cherry tomatoes were so good! I would just pick and eat a few every time I went outside!
Again, these were so good! Just pick, wash and eat!
I bought a package of seed that had several colors of bell peppers. One of these turned out to be yellow peppers, which was the first time I have grown these. Didn't get a red pepper plant, though.
But I did get one purple pepper plant! It wasn't very productive, but still it was fun to have the variety.
I sauteed this batch of peppers with some vidalia onions, and spread them over some lime chips with melted colby jack cheese. EVEN my non-vegetable eater thought it was good!
I bought a short variety of carrot seed because the pop bottles (well, in this case, juice bottles) were not very deep.
When kids would come to visit, they would pull a few, wash them with the hose, and eat them fresh from the garden. Some of the kids had never before seen how carrots grew!
They weren't big, but they were delicious!
And easy to wash on my new pallet potting bench! To see how that was made, click here, or on the photo.
This was not the most successful of my little pop bottle garden. I would only get about 1 pea pod a day from each plant, BUT THEY TASTED SO GOOD!
You can be sure I will be growing more of them during the next growing season!
Instead of gardening being a chore, it has been a total delight!
I hope this encourages you to try a little pop bottle garden of your own!
